The second volume expands on the story of the first introducing us to a whole cast of characters all portrayed in great artwork.

I didn't necessarily love The Others, but I am intrigued by them. I bumped the rating up a bit because I did appreciate the insight into Arthur's character development/growth and his relationship with Mera. I'm not a big fan of revenge drama, but the conflict was just interesting enough to keep me engaged.

I found that this issue wasn’t as ‘fun’ as volume 1, but it’s just as dynamic. In this volume we get to see some more of Aquaman’s past including his parentage and also the time he spent as a part of a different team, the Others.

The Others are a rather motley crew consisting of Aquaman, Kahina the Seer, Prisoner of War, Ya’Wara, and The Operative. After the events of The Trench Arthur gets a visit from Ya’Wara and he’s plunged back into the days of his youth and his battle against Black Manta. We get to see a very different side of Arthur as the flashbacks continue, he was cold and the only thing he cared about was revenge. The change in him is drastic and definitely for the better, however he still has to face his demons.

The art is even better in this one, we get to see more emotion and even more scenery. The details and colors just capture the reader. There are some scenes that I’d love to have as posters or prints, they are that pretty. I’m going to be rather impatient waiting for the full volume 3 to come out.
