ARC Review

5 star read from a new author to me!

It was a short, instant love, fmc virgin book.

The female character in this is an archeologist and an intern at the museum. She was at a gala when the male character noticed her tattoo first and then he went to her and he fell instantly for her.

Great read!

Innocent in Istanbul tells the story of Celia Brooks, an American archaeologist working a dig site in Istanbul and Deniz Kemal, the son of the CEO of Kemal Industries, one of the most influential and powerful companies in all of Turkey. After they meet at the museum gala hosted to promote Celia's new archaeology finds, Celia and Deniz share a night of passion before being separated from one another for some time. They reunite when everything goes south for Celia's permits from the museum, threatening to cover up Celia's discovery of the Hittites coming to Turkey prior to the Romans and Greeks who influenced the Ottoman Empire.

I had to give this book ⭐⭐ because it was so unbelievable at points and Celia quickly became a main female character that I didn't quite like. After Celia and Deniz have a one-night-stand at the museum where Celia works, she ends up pregnant and fleeing from Deniz, fearing the repercussions. Yet, the second she needs to be angry at Deniz for his company buying her dig site right from under her, she returns to Deniz, eagerly returning his advances. If there's one thing I can't stand in books, it is when the female lead solely exists to become the love interest for the male lead, even when she has regrets about ever being with him in the first place. I love a good romance novel, as seen by many of the other books I read, but I don't like happily ever afters at the sake of the woman losing almost all of her independence.

Furthermore, coming from a women's health nursing background, the details regarding Celia's pregnancy were incredibly incorrect in regards to the timeline given in the book, especially with the timeline for finding out the sex of the baby and feeling him kick for the first time, considering the amount of time that passed in the book. The ending was also extremely abrupt to me, leaving me wanting more development between the two main characters and Deniz' father.

(I received an ARC of this book in return for my honest review.)

Not my favorite in the Vagabond series.
This book seemed very rushed. I was not a fan of either main character & even less of a fan when suddenly pregnancies are involved.
I feel like this story has potential to develop into a full storyline but the rushed timeline just made things feel unbelievable.
