When you’re a Midwestern girl turned NYC student turned Midwestern girl again, this book hits close to home. Though, I did not get to find the love of my life and a whole new family at a retirement community. (Yet….)

This book is so sweet and despite the bit of a reading slump I’ve been in, I never wanted to put it down. The story was captivating and I wanted to see where things went, the cast was hilarious and adorable, the romance was sickeningly sweet, and I was just obsessed with everything about it. I zoomed through the ending because I was so emotional about it and needed to know how things wound up for these characters. Courtney Walsh did such a spectacular job with this one and I think anyone who loves a quirky romance story with some found family thrown in should definitely check it out.

Oh, Rosie...
Rosie doesn't exactly lie but she omits almost everything.
Life is not at all what she wanted and after applying for more jobs than she can count, she lands the role of a lifetime as a director at a regional theatre. Only it's not exactly what she assumes and she's faced with more seniors than there is cheese in Wisconsin.
My favorite pieces of this book where the supporting cast. Arthur and Dylan in particular stole the show and my heart. I loved how they felt well rounded and had arcs too rather than be just a side piece to Rosie's growth. If you need motivation to dream big but also show up for those who need you, this book will be more than inspiring! As always, I love how Courtney's messages are positive and feel like a book hug when I read the last page.

Such a sweet and fun story. Typical Courtney Walsh!! This is a closed door romance, but plenty of tension and chemistry.
Solid 4 stars!

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

I absolutely loved reading Everything’s Coming Up Rosie! It was everything I expected the book to be and more. It had me reminiscing about the days when I worked at a retirement community. I still think about some of the residents from my time there, even though it’s been more than 15 years.

My only complaint would be that the book was not longer. Not because it was missing anything, but because I’m so sad that it’s over and I miss Rosie and Arthur and Booker and everyone else already.

I don’t know how Courtney Walsh does it, but she’s the queen of weaving together a great story. The characters, the details, the banter - it is all done so well. She makes me laugh and she makes me cry in the best way. Anything she writes is always an auto buy for me.

Thank you so much to Thomas Nelson Fiction for the advanced copy. All opinions expressed above are my own.

so, rough start, but i feel like i've been saying that a lot lately... however, when connie said something along the lines of rosie being there for a reason, i believe it was meant for me too. i needed to read this book right now!

but, firstly, the book is about an actor from a small town living in NYC, Rosie, who pretends to everyone, even herself, that everything is fine and she's living a dream. she doesn't want her three best friends and her mom to think she's a failure so she keeps pushing through until she can't ignore reality anymore. she's about to give up on everything: her dream of acting, her life in NYC, her independence and her pride.
however, as she's about to tell the truth to her friends, she gets a job from one of the mass admissions sprees she doesn't even remember applying to. she doesn't really read the job description because any job is better than no job and it's in a theatre right? well... she didn't really realise it was in a retirement community clubhouse but she never gives up, especially when a very hot guy keeps acting like her prince charming.

romance and found family plots are kinda my soft spot... now i gotta be honest, rosie is very much in her head ALL THE TIME. she's lucky she found very kind and caring people because she's pretty egocentric. thank god for marnie, maya and taylor, booker, daisy, louie, dylan, connie and bertie but especially arthur because we would have a very different ending if it wasn't for them. regardless, i was curious enough to keep reading through all the mess.

It is no surprise that I am writing another glowing review for one of my favorite authors latest releases. If you’re new to Courtney Walsh books… Welcome 🤗 or Die hard fan like myself… eek!!! You’re going to love this!

“It’s just life.”

One of my favorite things about picking up one of Courtney’s books is she knows what her readers want. And for this case… Yes… A floundering actress who finds herself accepting a position as a director at a “regional theatre”… which unbeknownst to her is at a retirement community. Let the shenanigans and self growth commence 🎭

“I don’t think anyone actually knows what they’re doing. We’re all in various stages of making it up as we go.”

Rosie! I adored her character. My heart hurt for her and how she felt like she wasn’t advancing in life alongside her friends at the same pace… which lead her to but on a facade and which ultimately pushes her to take the position as Director… taking a chance and building community is what makes her really take a look at her life and come to realize what she is truly passionate about.

Everyone she came across was kind and furthered her growth. Arthur was truly something special and I think I may have highlighted every line in the chapters he was in. He really helped get Rosie to her outcome and I loved how full circle it felt with the character Dylan that Rosie took under her wings. Truly special.

“It’s amazing what you discover if you hold the dream loosely.”

And of course Booker. I was a bit on the edge of my seat towards the end. He is so sweet and I loved that the romance was subtle and didn’t take aways from Rosie’s story but added to her growth.

I can go on forever about this gem. I don’t know who I need to get a hold of but a position at Sunset Hills sounds like a dream… a cute cozy cottage, all the activities a supporting community. Sounds like a dream!

“And remember, you can be exceptional anywhere.”

✨Thank you Thomas Nelson Fiction
