Is it possible for me to love Brandon Sanderson more than I already did?
This book did not go how I expected and I love that! This book showed us more about the universe and the government in place. I think we really saw Spensa grow as a leader and as a HUMAN. Seeing her understand that not all aliens are bad is so much fun, I love seeing her wrestle with herself and her beliefs because it shows real growth
I also love that M-Bot has an identity crisis throughout this book. he is struggling with his programming and who he is as an AI and I found that really compelling and also really funny at times.
I really hope we learn more about his past in the third installment
That cliffhanger really got me and I can't wait to see what Brandon Sanderson has planned for us when the third book comes out!

I don't really know what to say that I didn't say in my review for Skyward - this series so far has just been fantastic! I'm not a huge sci-fi girlie, but there's something about these books thats just gripping me and I can't put them down. This one gave me strong 'A Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet' vibes which is partly why I think I loved it so much, but the whole thing was just fantastic.
This one took you away from Detritus and into space and I really enjoyed the change in scenery. At first I was a little skeptical because I had grown to love the characters from book 1 so, so much but I shouldn't have been worried because the character in this one were just as fantastic. I absolutely adored every single character... Well, bar one or two... And I was so, so happy we got to see more variety in races etc from this space system.
The writing is just as fantastic as always - I think Brandon Sanderson is slowly becoming one of my favourite authors, and he's absolutely earned his place on my 'auto-buy' author list this year.
Can confirm, my cry count for this one was only one - it was a short and sweet cry session, but I was emotional.

2.5 I don't think that I will continue with the series... The first book was way better and the second book was okay... I enjoyed the first half more than the second half! m-Bot was the best part of this book!

I am so unbelievably disappointed. I am so angry and disappointed by this book. I don’t think the ideas that Sanderson put in this book are bad exactly but the pacing was awful. It felt like he gave himself a challenge to write this book in as few words as possible. It felt like there should have been a whole other book in between the events of the first book and where this book went. I think most of the ideas bought up in this book could have worked if you pace it better. I mean he had Spensa met an alien that was looking for humans and after like 2 lines of dialogue she hyperjumps across the universe to play spy. And the Spy plot was so rushed and half-ass, that it only “worked” because the aliens thought humans were stupid and M-bot is like the most powerful thing in the universe. I don’t even know where to begin when talking about the delvers, I think they could have been a good idea but it was done so awfully and rushed. They are a universe-destroying force that was introduced and dismissed in this one book.
What makes me really frustrated is that I think the reason why Sanderson did this was that he wanted to write aliens so he rushed their introduction and he want to put Spensa back into training. It just so annoying that with a few changes and a lot more pages everything that happened in that book could have been so good but he rushed to the point that he might have ruined the entire series, at the very least for me. I’m going to read the next book but only because I already bought it like an idiot because I liked the first book.

Wow! Sanderson is a genius storyteller/author. The way he uses setups in this book is masterful! And he creates suspense and drives the action forward almost perfectly.
My only complaint is the delvers. There’s no depth to them. It’s just an unstoppable force of destruction? And the way they do stop them was just a little too convenient.

Jednička mi námětem připomínala starou pc hru Space Rangers a ani u dvojky mě tahle vlna nostalgie neopustila, příjemný bonus po dočtení.
