I am very sad.
*I read this in the Edith Wharton Omnibus. The Age of Innocence in this book is only 274 pages, so I picked an edition with a close page count.

This book has fascinated me through three readings of it. And I don't typically reread books. Fascinating characters, who invoke in readers a wide variety of thoughts and feelings, this is one of those reads that tells you a lot more about you than the quality of the book itself. If you can convince yourself that this book is more than a bunch of stuffy, old fashioned, unspoken drama, you might find some interesting thoughts about relationships, culture and society, and how we conform to or reject our duties and our feelings.

Love is real and Edith Wharton has destroyed it in front of my eyes.
Terrific read. Poignant, witty, insightful with layered, nuanced characters.
