i fucking love gillian flynn. i love the way she writes apathetic, take-no-shit-cuz-i've-been-thru-enough-shit women. her writing is enthralling and twisted and wrenching. i'm ready for gone girl.

Dark thriller but with moments of levity and wit, great read that had me very hooked. Chapters alternated perspectives so the story came together in a unique way that left me wanting more after every chapter. Only wish there had been a bit more resolution at the end.

intriguing characterizations. Some characters might be innocent in regard to one event, but not innocent in others. Two folds and that is what kept me engaged and interested enough to finish the book.
I will say the reveal at the end of the book, one part was done well, and the other was thrown in as a line or two, not much time or thought spent with it.

This book is indeed dark. Flynn does a fantastic job giving us a concentrated dose of her characters in each POV chapter. I enjoyed the mystery in this book, though Flynn's writing sucked me in so thoroughly that when I closed the book I needed a moment to leave Kinnakee, Kansas behind. Flynn is a great writer and this is another example of her prowess.

Read for a book club - if it were just for me I probably wouldn’t have read past the first chapter. But once I got into it I was invested. Well paced interesting story with many layers and characters. Did not anticipate the ending, at least not in the way it happened. Overall a good mystery!

Side note, but was it necessary to mention every woman and girl’s breast size/shape throughout the story, repeatedly in some cases?? I’m shocked this was written by a woman. Overall felt it was well written with effective details, but the boob thing was weird.
