Want to make sure you actually know phonics?? Read this book. I haven't had to sound out this many names in 10 years. It's good though.

Absolutely love this series. I read Witness of the Dead before I read this prequel, so I’ll have to go and reread WOTD to see if I can catch any references I missed the first time. 5 stars!

This book was such a great read. I had no idea that political intrigue and Maia awkwardly making his way through court could be so enjoyable! There were so many lovable characters and Addison did an amazing job making so many of them interesting and in-depth. The names and the royal use of 'we' were a bit of a challenge, but it certainly made me sympathize with Maia more. Definitely a great read and awesome world building.
