WoW i LOVED this......

Kate Daniels comes across as rough and extremely independent, but i think Derek hits the nail on the head when he says she needs someone stronger than her..... Alpha male maybe a big Unfriendly cat shifter i fell a bit in love with.....

The flirtation between them has started i like to think, sending a saucer of milk over to Curran was brilliant!

Still a huge 5 star but it gets amazingly brilliant about halfway through you dare not part with the novel......

Its Gruesome, raw and full of mystery as Kate battles through vampires that never sparkle and Magic to powerful to control. Cant wait for book 2!

I LOVE Kate Daniels!! She's now the newest addition to my Top 5 Favorite FMCs!
The story is appealing, the FMC is strong, badass, funny, believable, & has a down-to-earth personality, the side characters are likable but slightly underdeveloped, the romance is thankfully very slow-burn & minimal, the prose is engaging, and the world-building is fascinating!  Although, I'm still a little bit confused about the magic system and how technology and magic work in this dystopian world.

I have such mixed feelings on this series because I read the innkeeper series by this duo and was immediately sucked in and super excited to go back and read the super popular series while I wait patiently for that series to complete. I also know that this series is wildly popular with a pretty bad ass protagonist But I found this first intro book almost a bit jarring in the over the top descriptions and the ridiculous Kate’s outfits and related. I went back and checked if this was YA a few times but it’s not. I gather this is the first of the series and there is a lot more building to do. Overall I found the characters to be enjoyable (although stereotypical) and I definitely want to read a few more to see where this goes. I also love the paranormal/fantasy investigation aspect of it.
