This book reads like it was written in the 90s.
A lot of crumbs were sprinkled in the first book concerning who Kate was. It was annoying to be honest. I'd just met this person. Why should I care when I don't know who she is? I like the world created. I like the diffrent takes on the supernatural. Not sure how I feel about the vampires. I would have liked a clearer explanation of who the People are.

What a fun read!
I loved Kate McDaniels - she is another kick ass heroine who don't need no man. Her dialogue was sassy and sarcasm. There's something about witty dialogue between character that just gets to my soul. The creatures in the this weren't just your typical werewolf, vampire, etc, they actually had power and a function in society.
I will be continuing this series!

started out super bland, but picked up interest maybe a third of the way through. ended up pretty well. lots of extras at the end, didn't appreciate one character calling another one "retarded". i mean, really?!
