I enjoyed it very much.
adventurous funny fast-paced

Apparently I checked this book out at the library some time ago and then returned it without actually reading it. Not sure why. Thought I'd give it a try again and of course I really e joyed it. The world building shines, as expected.

Slow start but worth powering through. Kate was so fun and badass. Looking forward to more interactions with The Beast Lord.

I liked Kate a lot! The story was good and action-packed.

I wish I could listen to the proper audiobook

Reading through a slump is probably the closest thing I've gotten to swimming through molasses, but with that being said this was such a fun read. Kate is quick on her feet, clever at all times, and comes from some sort of powerful magic bloodline??

I'm not always a fan of urban fantasy but this felt really unique; magic and tech are in a swinging pendulum. So when magic is working, you can cast spells but your car won't start. And when tech is working, well...you get the idea. If I've got my lore right, this swing happens every couple thousand years. This book takes place 40-years-post the most recent swing, and bestie we are in our ✨magic✨ era! Atlanta is a MESS (turns out magic eats buildings) so people are in the process of rebuilding things using...you guessed it...magic. It almost feels like what Last of Us looks like, minus the zombies. WELL, not necessarily. Lololol. We'll see.

This sort of edged on campy for me in how many types of magic systems are thrown our way — we've got clairvoyants, we've got telepaths, we've got shapeshifters, we've got vampires, words of power, blood magic, and on.

I can only imagine this series gets better without the necessary exposition about the worldbuilding, so yes I will keep reading and because GUESS WHAT THERE'S A HOT LION.

WoW i LOVED this......

Kate Daniels comes across as rough and extremely independent, but i think Derek hits the nail on the head when he says she needs someone stronger than her..... Alpha male maybe a big Unfriendly cat shifter i fell a bit in love with.....

The flirtation between them has started i like to think, sending a saucer of milk over to Curran was brilliant!

Still a huge 5 star but it gets amazingly brilliant about halfway through you dare not part with the novel......

Its Gruesome, raw and full of mystery as Kate battles through vampires that never sparkle and Magic to powerful to control. Cant wait for book 2!

Re-read it. Book 8 is coming out and I can't remember a lot...
