I'm ALL IN on Kristin Hannah! There was so much to adore about this book. The complex and endearing sister relationship, the French setting (love to read about places I've been!), the unique perspective on a familiar historical period. Hannah is astounding with her ability to turn the spotlight onto the people who we don't think about when we think about historic events. This story is somehow beautifully singular and universally relatable. Will be thinking of these sisters for a long long time.

Oh, my. The tears that are streaming down my face say it all - this book ...what an epic, heartbreaking, inspirational tale it is. I will carry its words and messages in my heart forever. Rarely have I read a book that has touched me in such a way; but, as time passes and the survivors - all heroes and victims one and all - become fewer and fewer, a reminder such as this - of all that was risked and all that was lost and all that was saved - is a gift. This book is a treasure. Read it. Feel it. Remember it.
