Despite the length of the novel, it still felt rushed and disjointed in many ways. I really wish the sisters relationship had actually been fleshed out and given time to mend instead of just a little bit of time at the very end when neither was healthy enough individually to really parse through a lifetime of hurt. That being said, I’m a sucker for WW2 historical fiction and I did appreciate their individual stories of heroism.
