6⭐️Emmett und Lucian are so dear to my heart. I will protecc and atacc anyone who hurts my children.
Beautiful lyrical writing, pinning and yearning sooo goood you swooon. Lucian is a hot mess and I adore him. The only reason it took me almost 4 years to finish this was bcs I was soo obsessed I did not want it to end. I could read a whole nother book with these two.

(7.3/10) - ⭐⭐⭐️💫
It's always a small accomplishment when you manage to read the oldest book on your TBR, and The Binding had been fermenting on my shelves since early 2019. But no longer! For I have conquered it, and ended up quite liking it.
I thought the concept of this was really strong - book binders having the power to draw memories out of people and transcribing them, turning these memories into books while the person forgets what is now bound. It raises some interesting ethical questions, a lot of which are thoroughly explored, and for the first part of this book I figured that's where the emphasis would stay.
About a third in, however, we pivot to a "before" of our main character and his relationship with another boy, after which we pivot once more to the point of view of his love interest. And while I did think their relationship in itself was interesting to follow in this particular setting, it did make the book feel very unfocused in the end. I really wish the author would've picked one over the other, because the way this was structured led to the magical element of it being almost completely abandoned after having the whole start of the book focus on it seemingly without a point.
That said, both did still give me enough to warrant 3.5 stars in the end. I don't think I'd pick up more of the author's works for their writing style alone, but should I come across a synopsis I like the sound of, I'd definitely give them another go.

I thought it was going to be more fantasy/magical but it just a drawn out love story. Really disappointing!
