I'm da joka baby

Started out somewhat interesting but I quickly found out that I genuinely did not care about this loser or anything that was happening. I know this is an old book, but it brings nothing interesting to me. It's just... boring. Depressed/alienated man loathes women, story as old as time. Anything else? Not really. And don't get me wrong, I do empathize with many of his feelings, but it's just not enough for me to consider this a good literary experience. In a few days I'll probably remember nothing about it.

This book was the first book I've been able to finish since highschool, and amazingly pulled me out of my long-lasting reading slump. There were times where I was overhwlemingly frustrated with the main character, but there were also times when I felt he was relatable in his own way (although to be completely clear-the character is a very flawed person). The ending induces a lot of reflection, especially if you know of the author. For a novel considered a classic, it is very easy to understand, and I was suprised by this as someone who often interprets writing incorrectly.

Very slow start I honestly didn’t enjoy till I got about 70ish pages in BUT I feel like it was worth the push through eventually. Sad ending in a sense reflects on how we are so hard on ourselves as humans and can go our whole lives beating ourselves up while others may look up to us or view us in a completely different way.
