This is one of the books where you find yourself screaming (mentally, of course) "why are you doing this, you stupid girl????" far too frequently. Taylor's off-the-deep-end response to Angus' two-timing and dumping her made me want to shake her, but it did lead to a good thriller. Points lost because it was difficult to understand how The Art of War tied in, despite the epigrams at the start of each chapter.

Taylor just got dumped by her boyfriend Angus after another fight , and now he just posted a sex tape he took of her online, to add to the hurt he decides to take his ex girlfriend on the ski trip he and Taylor had already planned on taking together. To say Taylor is upset is an understatement. She decides to take Sun Tzus ‘Art Of War and turn the table on Angus. First step ruin his reputation as she set forth a series of events that surprise Angus, he may just have his own ace up his sleeve as well. Taylor wants revenge , as we dig deeper into to their relationship we see it was not a healthy one, Angus isn’t the nicest he’s actually abusive physically and emotionally. As Taylor dives into the life of the man she once loved she uncovers some shocking secrets, secrets that will turn her and Angus’s life upside down. Soon Taylor begins to fear for her life and soon her job is at risk and all she knows is that she wants Angus to pay! Five stars this book is unbelievable I was hooked by page one! Taylor is a troubled woman Angus has really done a number on her. The book is narrated by Taylor and it had me cringing at times. This book shows just how quickly events can spiral out of control!
When a book starts off with writing as eloquent as “But here’s the thing: in real life, in the sphere of true human existence, theory holds an old quill pen, while a broken heart wields a gun. No competition, really.” I knew I would love it.
But like a horror film where the dumb girl does something you know is stupid , Taylor had me shouting out loud and wanting to throw the book at the wall. I didn’t as I was reading on my kindle .
Angus is (well there are many words for men like him but I will behave) manipulative, controlling , aggressive , passive aggressive and a damn right nasty piece of work . Just the type of character I love to hate.
The pace slowly draws you into the game of cat and mouse , and like a car crash you can’t help but watch the fallout.
The writing is superb and this was very close to 5 stars however I felt the ending was slightly rushed and perhaps wrapped up a little too nicely. I would have preferred a cliffhanger or an ambiguous ending myself but I know most would hate that so I’m probably in the minority.

We all know the feeling of heart break. When someone we truly love let’s us down, we want to get back at them. This is exactly what Taylor Bishop wants to do. She wants to destroy Angus Hollingsworth just like he destroyed her. But when seems to constantly be one step ahead, how will her revenge plan work. With strong Girl on the Train and Before I Go To Sleep vibes, this is a story of a girl on a mission to get out.
I do have to say, this book took me a little while to get into. We jumped straight into the story and I felt a little lost for the first 50 pages or so. However, once I got hooked, I couldn’t put it down. From the moment she utters the line “this was the last time I felt safe” I could not stop reading and spent every spare minute wanting to read this book. I do feel like Taylor got a bit let off the hook in the end, with no eyes on her, I was kind feeling like she should get caught out a little, but I was also so excited that she escaped. If you loved The Girl on the Train and Before I Go To Sleep, than I would highly recommend this book!
*I received this book as an ARC from NetGallery.

Really enjoyed this. Nothing like a good domestic thriller with a satisfying end. Action right off the bat. Looking forward to more!

This is actual proof that The Art of War isn't a useful book anymore.
This was pretty entertaining and stressful. Stressful is good in a thriller. I really needed to know how it would all play out.

3.5 stars!
It is definitely action packed and has a lot of thrilling elements. If you are interested in a fast paced book that keeps you turning pages, this one is perfect! I seriously couldn't put it down for the last 30 percent. My main issue with this one is that I felt like I had no time to get to know the main character. I like that it jumped right in, but there was no time to decide what I thought about Taylor. I would have liked more character development, and I feel like the ending was a bit rushed. I liked the revenge aspect of the story, but would have enjoyed more getting to know Taylor before the action started.
If you liked Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris, I think you would like this one!

The Sunday Girl follows Taylor, an abused woman who wants to get back at her ex-boyfriend Angus for posting a sex tape online. But she’s not sure how to go about doing it, and she isn’t sure if she’s ready to let him go. With chapters framed as days of the weeks, we follow Taylor in her quest to get the revenge she thinks she deserves.
It would be easy to get mad at her about her lingering love for Angus, but one has to look at how abuse changes a person’s way of thinking over time, and we see that in Taylor. But I didn’t love Taylor’s character, and it wasn’t necessarily because she was still in love with Angus. At times, she was too pushy, (when Charlotte was trying to set up a dating profile for her), and Taylor’s entire way of thinking was obsessive. It was too much for me.
But the thing is, once I started the story, I didn’t want to put it down. Because the more that was revealed, the more enjoyable the story was; it was a well-written story. While our cast of characters was fairly small, they were 3 dimensional, and they all had a role to play. Overall, a fairly fun read.
