Definitely a new favourite! I especially loves how all the short stories were woven together through location and shared characters.
I thought the story was really good actually. Levar reading it makes it even better. "But you don't have to take my word for it." 😉
Oops! I found this collection so drab that I forgot to review it. While the language was often beautiful, it also smothered any emotional resonance under its weight. The stories were repetitive and weren’t quite creepy enough to really grab me. I do think the prose is lovely, so I’d be happy to check out another piece by this author (especially in novel form), but this one just didn’t do it for me.

Dark and confusing. I liked some of the stories more than others but they weren’t as fenny as I thought they should have been for a book called ‘fen’. They felt more costal/ Norfolk than I know the fens to be.

this was a book my girlfriend bought me on a whim, and never was there a bigger sign of love than gifting someone a book that resonates with their heart so much. it took me until the end of Fen to really realise the stories were bleeding into each other, but it was such a good touch and something I've aspired to in my own writing. every story in this collection was raw and original, and I couldn't be happier to have read this book.
