Daisy. I want to be friends. At times, it felt like we already are. Your stories are simultaneously powerful and vulnerable. You made me feel things I would rather not, reminded me of experiences I’ve since forgotten, and I loved every page. I cannot WAIT to see what Daisy Johnson comes out with next. Gorgeous characters, stories that left me heartbroken and wanting more. Brilliant.

my friends bought me a copy of this for my birthday, they said that it reminded them of all the things i talk about most. it means more to me for that, i think, and for the fact that fen-land has become a half-home for me, the flat expanses into which cambridge sometimes feels as though it's sinking.

A haunting collection, a little too aware of its intent to haunt. The fens seem a frightening place, sliding in and out of sense. Mud and sense. Sometimes I couldn't quite connect an action to a set of words, though possibly that is my reading skills failing, and sometimes a word choice was too cute. My favourite stories were the ones that make up 'The Scattering'. The sensual details are what make these stories tense and full.
