Multiple POV's and an overall "fun" time in London over a weekend.

I thoroughly enjoyed the writing, the style and the flair that the author has with words and pumping them out fast and loose.
The ONLY thing that didn't really work for me, was how it is described as the hottest weekend. If you've read "The Dry" by Jane Harper - you'll know what I mean. Harper manages to write it so dry it makes you thirsty. You feel the dryness all over your body. This did not feel llike that. I had to constantly remind myself that it was the hottest weekend ever. So I think it failed to do exactly that. But otherwise I found it phenomenal. I loved how the author used the  multiple POV's to create tension in the distribution of information. And I love that I never managed to foresee how the information would be revealed! 10/10!

Lots going on here. A few unnecessary narratives eg. one belonging to Ali? Why? Why bother with Hollie or Callum if they are not really being developed? I found the editing lacking.

Oisín enjoys incorporating the sense of smell into every scene. And an endless appearance of chips (soggy/ketchup/vinegar)

I flew through this! The prose is crisp and clear, and the many changes in POV kept me on my toes. I’ve seen a lot of reviews mention the lack of communication driving them up the wall - I understand that, but I also thought it was actually quite realistic. People are terrible at communicating and it was refreshing to see all of the assumptions these characters made about their close friends and family, and then getting a paragraph or chapter from those friends’ POV showing us how wrong those assumptions were. Phil was the most interesting and fleshed out character to me, and I particularly enjoyed Maggie as well.

Messy and funny and sad and absolutely stunning! This made me emotional about so many things, including living in a city, so I’m going to keep doing that and hopefully reading more of McKenna’s books.
