I read this book in my early adulthood and it had a big impact on me! I was tempted to give it five for the influence it may have had on my life as far as adventuring, but I suspect I should re-read it before goin there.

I constantly reminded myself that this was a child and what he achieved when he did it. I enjoyed his style of writing
7/10
This is a really cool book about a boy that decides to sail around the world by himself. It is less about sailing and more about the different cultures he discovers and his life as a sailor meeting all kinds of people and seeing different places.
The content is 4-5 stars, but I had a hard time sticking with it. I ended up reading it over the course of a few years.
This is a book that will stick with me for awhile.

Exploration via sailboat is very high up on my bucket list. I have a huge appetite for these types of books. The story here was decent, but the narrator is insufferable. Every other page is griping about mental health issues or missing his significant other. I understand that long distance sailing will have its challenges, but the number of times this dude talked about being depressed tainted everything. Also the Christianity piece is a huge buzzkill. Personally I would suggest passing on this and reading about the Pardeys’ adventures or get some hippy vibes from Moitessier. There are plenty of other great sailing books out there.

Absolutely loved reading about Graham’s five year journey around the world!! Such an interesting memoir and I loved all the stories, lessons, and quotes throughout the book. One of the quotes, “Kindness has got nothing to do with money and happiness has got nothing to do with rank or race” was so meaningful to me and I believe holds so much truth.
Overall quite interesting and motivating. Otherwise it was a fun read. :D

But the 'sailing because god wants me to' thing wasn't great. Nothing against Christianity but it seemed like just some way to get people to like it. Cheesy.
An inspirational story, true, with all the real challenges of an epic journey.
