First impressions after reading the book: WOW!

I loved it all. I imagine creative people will love it, but so would other people (if they would creatively read between the lines).

There are so many lines that I have annotated and I really want to go through them again.

I am so grateful that I wan this book in goodread's giveaway.

It is easy to read this book and pick on things like, "how can the author thing that ideas have a soul of their own". But if this book is read metaphorically and read as a conversation between you and the author, I think it can be liberating.

(After I let the ideas marinate a little longer, I might write a proper review).

I like reading books like this because they are just gentle reminders of how we can think differently or do differently. Do I think the book was big magic? No. But it was magic enough.

I’ve picked up book several times but I get bored with it and stop. I went and found the highlights instead.

Again! She is a really good writer and an excellent narrator. Even though I rolled my eyes at some of the thing she was saying again!, I still didn’t want to stop listening.

What she recommends from what I remember:
- Do it because you love it, not because of the rewards.
- Don’t criticize yourself. Don’t say I’m a loser, failure, etc.
- Don’t go for an advanced degree (kind of disagree here, I mean yes you don’t want to be in debt because it will cripple you but sometimes you need these connection, I’m pretty sure those who go for the Iowa writing program for example have publishers knocking on their doors).
- Don’t quit your day job YET. You can still work on your goals while having this secure financial stability.
- Commit. She still wrote every day even on difficult days. She would set a timer for 30 minutes and write anything. Better than nothing.
- Lazy and Perfectionist are the worst qualities you can have. Doing something is better than doing nothing. Being 70% qualified sometimes is okay, it doesn’t have to be 100% (applies to a situation I’m in right now).
- Curiosity not passion.
- Stay Busy.
- If you can’t do what you like right now, do something else.

I’ve heard these in similar books but she just writes well and engages the listener to keep going. Also unlike the other books, this one is concise and a good size for the message it is trying to deliver. I still though rolled my eyes at some of the stuff related to ideas moving in air from one person to another … I mean I don’t know.
