I went into this book with no expectations, I saw it on the employee rec shelf at B&N, saw it was Appalachian horror and was like “sign me up!”… and I loved it!! It was so dark and mysterious and the author was very good at revealing just enough to keep you intrigued throughout the whole book. The twist at the end was crazy and I love a story about a crazed religion.

Really good book, I would say that it is a fresh take on eldritch Appalachia that brings in a lot of the themes of Lovecraft without focusing as much on the aesthetic that has been built around him. Lovecraft is never mentioned but it hovers around the book just out of sight.
