Trying to wrap my head around this one. At times it felt like a chore, at others I found the prose to be utterly beautiful and above all, evocative. Virginia’s got my attention, and I’m curious to see how her other major works shake out for me.

-What's the book about?
-People.
-What do the people do?
-They go to a party. It's about people who go to a party.

And the imagery is thick. You could pick up the metaphors. Woolf makes her characters' thoughts and sensations physical. She gets people and all of their so-sure misunderstandings of each other and situations.

I liked it better than 'To the Lighthouse,' but I'm not exactly sure why. Maybe it was tighter, more controlled, with more carefully chosen imagery. Or maybe I didn't read 'To the Lighthouse' correctly.

This was just hard to read and although I understand what the concept is I just wasn’t into it having no real plot.
