Hilarious, riveting, and made me want to break out some science kits and dive into chemistry and botany. I picked this one up a couple days ago just to read a few pages, and here we are! Finished it before the week was through. A truly delicious read. May I never have excuses for something being too difficult to figure out ever again.

This book is fantastic. I can't even think of any other way to describe it. I read this book incredibly quickly, despite the sheer amount of complicated science and engineering that it explains throughout it. I thought this would make it drag and be difficult to understand, but the way it was written caused it to do nothing but add to the story. I am so incredibly impressed with Andy Weir for working out all the science, engineering, and technology behind these fictional Ares missions. At times I had to remind myself this isn't real and that I am not reading the equivalent of a documentary. All the details were there, and it is beyond me how Weir thought of everything and worked out all the specifics. Not only this, Mark Watney is such a funny and sarcastic genius, I loved reading about him and his struggles on Mars. I am so impressed by this book, and I will definitely be reading anything else similar to it that Andy Weir puts out in the future.

This came out of left field. Picked it up after reading some impressive reviews and I'm glad I did. Macgyver on Mars is an apt description but it is more like a "stranded on a deserted island" story. Weir kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the book, even though I was pretty sure I knew what was going to happen. Great read.

This was my first foray into sci-fi and I adored it! I was laughing and crying with Mark through his ordeals.
