By looking at various research and case studies, the author explores how models and approaches from epidemiology could be applied to other fields and problems, such as the spread of (mis)information on social media, gun violence, and more. Given this ambitious goal, the author occasionally tries too hard to make everything look like a nail that would fit the hammer he wields. Despite such shortcomings, the book offers an interesting collection of research and can be read quickly, with a generous further reading section at the end if you want to dig deeper into any of the mentioned topics. Overall, I’d mark this one as interesting enough but not as essential.
