Very good plot…female friendship between 3 women who grew up together in Paris at the Palais Garnier and the Paris Ballet Academia. Twists I didn’t see coming. Fresh take on females in ballet, women friendships and women’s allowable dreams and goals in general. Learned that France executed a woman by guillotine for abortion in 1943

OHHHH YEAH THIS IS WHAT I NEEDED

A gracefully painted tale of blackmail and back stabbing.

As a former ballerina myself, its hard for me to think this kind of behavior exists. Every tale told about premier ballet companies seems to follow this exact format of blood thirsty dancers out to destroy the prima ballerina for their spot. I happen to know, that ballerina's can be friends. It does make for a good story though.

The author has a wonderful way of telling a tale with ease and depth that makes reading the book effortless. Kinda like a ballet in itself. And not all male dancers are out to sleep with all the girls in the company, although in this book, it seems they do.

I loved reading this dark painted ballet. It brought me back to the stage and the feelings of dancing, but also weaves a desperate tale of passion and the need to shine. Worth the read.

Sara | Book Confessions of an ExBallerina

I wanted to like it more than I did, but I won’t even bother sending it to my dancing niece simply because the sex didn’t need to be so graphic.

There are some really excellent topics in this book but I feel the commentary was superficial and could’ve gone much deeper if the story was a bit more focused and streamlined. I am fascinated with the world of ballet, so the setting really kept me reading.

not my favorite... but honestly underrated. i will always stand up for a thriller in an unconventional setting.

Great character development and interesting story. Felt like at times that the author repeated herself and at one point-I said okay I get it-you did something bad to Lindsay

DNF at 50%

Just not for me right now. There was seemingly no real plot by the 50% mark and I didn’t wish to listen to more about the way ballerinas behave. I may pick it up again later on to finish but right now I just couldn’t do it..

4.5 stars. I think I’m realizing that I love a messy novel. Even the protagonist has unlikeable traits. A friendship are rife with secrets and betrayals and selfishness. But that’s life. This book was a delight to read.

Incredibly slow start for me. I stuck with it because there were hints of a secret to be revealed. I wasn’t intrigued until I was over halfway thru the book, and then it only took me two days to finish. Happy to have finished it, and it’s truly a testament of fierce woman friendship, but don’t think I’ll be keeping this one on my shelf.
