2 1/2 stars....I haven't read a MHC novel in a long time. This seemed a bit too cheesy for me and I didn't really like any of the characters.

This was a page turner and kept me guessing throughout the novel. What a great read. Loved the cruise ship setting. Just perfect!

Of all the years I’ve been reading, I’ve never read a Mary Higgins Clark book until now.

All By Myself, Alone was a quick, fun mystery that I enjoyed on audio during a busy week that didn’t leave me much time to sit down and read. Although there wasn’t as much thrill or suspense as I had hoped, I love mysteries that involve several characters in one place and somebody’s not who they say they are…

I borrowed this from the library on a whim—I've never read Mary Higgins Clark, and it wasn't until I was halfway through and went to add the book on Goodreads that I realized this is part of a series. I enjoyed the claustrophobic cruise ship setting and the relationship between Alvirah and Willie, but that's about it. The writing is simplistic, most of the characters feel more like caricatures, and the plot twists were predictable. I really wanted to like this, but it wasn't worth the 5 or so hours it took to read. I see that many reviewers enjoyed Mary Higgins Clark's earlier novels much more, so I'll check one of those out before writing her off completely.

The only positive thing that can be said for this dire drivel is that the chapters are mercifully short. The amount of crap I've waded through on account of my fondness for murders on cruise ships is now beyond a joke.
