A Korean colleague found this book off-putting because the language and depiction of the girl aren't culturally accurate. I did not think the story was that interesting, anyway. The illustrations are beautiful, though.
Beautiful, soft artwork complemented by the names of objects in Korean. The story is relateable and touching. Cross-cultural component. Realistic and personal.
This is such a sweet story! I loved reading it with my little girl.
Very touching story about adoption or about adapting to any change. Beautiful illustrations as well.

Soo Min was adopted from Korea and doesn't know much English, but she makes a bond with the family cat, goyangi. The illustrations are gorgeous. Everything is a print: the character's clothing, blankets, book covers, even the cat. Hangul is worked into the frame of each page.
