just a really enjoyable read! i loved the story of lucrezia having read my last duchess in school. really well-written, the depth of lucrezia and alfonso, and the setting of the italian court, made it such a simply immersive read, no notes

definitely one of the most fascinating books i've ever read.
the author chose to tell the story in a very impressive way that makes me want to read it very quickly but also very slowly. it makes me want to take breaks and think about it for a while before running to continue reading. it was definitely a slow-paced book but i think this is how it should be as well.
it's such a rare piece that i'm sure i won't be able to shake this feeling off me for a while.

Beautiful writing that really brings the setting (place and time) to life. I loved that aspect of it.

I'm a genre reader. This book doesn't do it for me in terms of plot or character. And the ending hit me wrong, and now I'm angry at the whole book.
