Loved every thought behind this about a young girl librarian saving the day with books! I liked the evil Dr. Glockenspiel (and saying his name out loud) and I thought the comic book style was perfect for the storyline. Fun read aloud!

I had the idea for "Lyric McKerrigan, Secret Librarian" after reading about a real-life guerrilla librarian who roamed New York City, stocking abandoned phone booths with free books. As often happens, the final story was very different from the original inspiration. The real-life news article didn't have any giant moths, secret agents, or underground lairs in Arctic icebergs. This concludes my proof that picture books are better than real life.

I'm obviously biased, but I think Vera Brosgol's art is AMAZING. It bursts with humor and energy. It's full of wonderful little details that reward careful reading but never slow down the pace. I'm incredibly lucky to have her illustrating my first picture book.

This book is genius. Criminals are always foiled by the secret librarian who knows how to find just the right book for everyone.

It was just "Ok". Nothing I would share with my little reading group.

I really wanted to like this, and the concept was clever, but the execution didn't pay off. The story just felt a bit flat, shallow. Vera Brosgol's illustrations were fun, though.
