I loved the slow build in This and he friendship stage, Xander at times got a bit much but I guess that was the whole point of his character and Derek was swoon worthy, few plot points that bugged me but overall a very good book
spice was 2/5

Not Catching Love by Saxon James is the 5th book in the Accidental Love Series and I absolutely loved it.  When authors go out of their way to depict a character with mental illness and do it WELL I am sold.  Everything about it was well written and well thought out.  You could tell that Saxon researched and was careful about how she wrote Xander, and as someone who struggles with anxiety I so appreciated that.

Thank you to Saxon James and Foreward PR for the ARC of this book.

Not Catching Love by Saxon James, Accidental Love Series #5

Xavier’s story … finally!

I don’t know about anybody else, but I’ve been waiting for this from the day I picked up The Husband Hoax and met this tiny blue-haired gremlin. And as always, Saxon James didn’t disappoint.

To this point, Derek has been this hazy, vague idea. You know that he helps Z, that Z has a crush on him … and that’s about it. I absolutely loved getting to be in his head and find this complex, well-rounded, real, caring guy. As for Z … I won’t lie. Reading him was difficult at times because he was so good at getting in his own damn way. Needless to say, they both finally get their shit together and get on the same page, and I would read another 100 pages of them just being adorable together. And the Bertha boys! Good cameos and some excellent Seven storytelling. I may or may not have cried. (I definitely cried.)

Reads with similar found-family vibes:
📗 The first four books in the Accidental Love series, obviously
📘 James’ Divorced Men’s Club series
📙 A.J. Truman’s Single Dad’s Club series
📕 E.M. Lindsey’s Words We Never Said series

All in all, Not Catching Love might be your book if you appreciate:
🎨 Found family
🩺 Hurt/comfort
🎨 Forbidden relationship (nurse/patient)
🩺 Age gap
🎨 Mental-health rep

You know I’m going to tell you to read this, right? I mean, when would I ever tell someone to NOT read Saxon James? For me, it didn’t read as spicy as the previous books in the series, but the emotional satisfaction of finally seeing Xavier happy was perfection. All the same, make sure you heed the CWs.
