The first sentence of this book was the sign that I'm going to love it.
I was anxiously waiting for Xander's story. I needed to know why he was living in such a deabilitating mental state. Since the first time appearing in the series, I knew he was a complex character with a lot of issues, but I really wanted to understand him and the reason the Bertha Boys were treating him with gloves on all of the time.
Saxon James has this beautiful gift to create vivid, real life representations in her books. She was able to transmit us all of Xander's pain, but also Derek's helplessness, despite the incredible attraction and love they feel for each other.
This story is not an easy one. In a lot of romance books, once you find your better half, you start 'miraculously' healing just by feeling loved. In this one though, the characters had to explode, implode, stop burying their heads in the sand and finally accept that, if they won't work on each other to get better, the relationship is never even going to start.
Mental health is a b****, it's shown more than once in this series, it's beautifully depicted and the effort Saxon put into the healing journey of Xander, was delicately written and even better once Derek was back in the story.
His presence was essential in Xander's healing and I was so happy that this final book was able to get all of the Bertha boys the happy ending they all deserved.

I'm crying because this was a good ending to this series, the last of the Bertha boys and the one I most wanted to know their story and well, it didn't disappoint.
In the author's note she tells us that we will hate Xander at times but that is part of his nature and problem and I completely understand why she said it because it became REAL to me, Xander's mental problems were not cured overnight, they were not cured by the "power of love" and God, I am thankful for that, I am thankful that the author had sensitivity readers to help her along the way because she certainly delivered, she gave us the Xander we all wanted to know.
I feel that Derek had the right ideals, I feel that he was the push that Seven needed to help Xander and that Xander had a reason to do it, I feel that he was strong in controlling his feelings as much as he could but also not closing himself off to them.
The romance was beautiful, the time they had away from each other was used for them to grow, to develop and you can see that on every page you read, no doubt the author knew how to give us what we wanted (at least in my opinion) from Xander's story.
📌 I received an e-arc, and this is my honest opinion/review of it.

SJ was right that xander isn’t likeable for the majority of the book. It’s balanced by some really funny writing so I still enjoyed it. The last 10% I enjoyed the most. A really sweet ending to the series.
