If you’ve seen Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie, you’re familiar with the scene where the film’s titular lead, Tim Heidecker, “adopts” the toilet paper recycling store owner’s son, Jeffrey.

To me, the character Beau read just like that.

Beck is supposed to be smart and mature but she constantly makes decisions that don’t support either of those traits. She essentially works for Uber and lets her baby ride in the back with her clients? She lets Beau into her life and allows him to interact with her child without knowing his last name?

They break up constantly over things that adults their age should be able to communicate through.

Beck is a bad friend to her bestie, Goldie. Goldie is clearly going through a rough time throughout the story and Beck never pushes to help her. She always just “knows” Goldie doesn’t want her to pry.

The characters are given very little description and it’s hard to care about either of them distinctly because their POVs are so similar. The main differentiating feature of Beck’s POV is her repetitive usage of the word “Seriously.”

I read this book because I saw it recommended repeatedly on r/RomanceBooks for the spice. I’m not averse to the story’s central kink (lactation), however I found the sex scenes to be uncomfortable for the most part. Beck frequently suffers from having impossible anatomy during sex and after a certain point it feels like Beau brings up Beck’s son Jett during the deed almost every time. I am not a mother so that could be tainting my reading of the scenes, but him telling her how much he loves her son while balls-deep gave me major ick.

I had a fun time reading some parts of the book for their sheer ludicrousness and I enjoyed telling my friends about the story as I read, however I don’t see myself returning to the Wrench Kings series for more. I do hope Goldie and Atticus get together in a later book though, as they both deserve a happy ending for each other after dealing with Beau and Beck.

If you love Hallmark Movies with added smut, this is for you. However: CHECK THE TRIGGER WARNINGS. A feel good love story with a little dirty time sprinkled in and a new kink I didn’t know existed. Wow! Love the reverse age gap so much. This is my first and it was so great to read a strong female, and her being a strong single mom makes me love it more. It was difficult to put down. Just love everything Daisy Jane writes.

3 spice -

Loved:
- All of the characters except Beck. I especially loved Beau and his dynamic with Jet
- This book has me excited for the next two books in the series!

Disliked:
- Beck. She wouldn't stop talking about Beau's age, she was overly concerned with her ex husband and she was selfish in her friendship with Goldie

I would've rated this book higher if Beck wasn't so insufferable

Extremely sweet, yet wildly kinky. Very well written. Nice communication between the MCs.

4.5 stars.
Beau is a wreck. His dad has died and left him with a death bed confession that he has NO idea how to deal with. So he does the mature thing and blow a year drinking vodka and getting pissed. Hey- he's 26 so his brain is not fully formed :)

We forgive him because he is PRECIOUS. As is Jett, Jetpack, Jetster- lots of cute and sweet moments in this story. And whew- this is a spicy read! Very hot and really great. Lactation kink warning (if you need it).

Trying to picture Beau based on the description in the book is patchy and I was confused between the Brando & young Depp references coupled with that (not very strong? Didn't fit?) cover. We are assured he is hot though :)

Beck (Rebecca)- it was hard to get a good idea of what she looked like since there were not so flattering descriptions from her about herself, so yes- why on earth is Beau interested in her? I just couldn't get a strong picture of her in my mind. Anyway, she struggles to understand why a younger man wants her, especially as "damaged goods". Its a struggle- a valid one.

What would have made this a 5 for me would be? I think shorter, for some odd reason the book felt a little dragged out. Which is weird since I don't like the "insta" very much. Timelines seemed a little off for me, we were at 2 months for Jett's birthday but then it was the best month of her life?

And Beck made some choices here and there which irritated me. Why not take the hottie at his words? Maybe having a kid in the picture can definitely make you more cautious in opening up to someone.

I didn't have that scenario in my life, but a light bulb went off in my head. This story did hit me since my hubs is 11 years older than me. So I now understand why he tried to set me up with his friends and how he felt, telling me he didn't want to get involved since he had lots of baggage (divorce, kids). I told him Pshaw- he was stuck with me :)

Bravo to Ms. Jane for helping me see the other side. And it was appreciated to see Beau's dad loving him and Beau seeing his love for Jett.

Wowwww !!!!!! This is a duet narration by Jason Clark & Daisy Jane. Holy hell this was so well done from both VOs! Hearing Beau & Beck come to life had me swooning and hitting me right in the feels!

feels wrong to DNF a book at 85% but i just can’t anymore. their relationship progressed way too quickly considering their individual shit and the fact that the fmc has a literal baby. they had an argument on their first date?? he’s trying to get them to move in on date three?? (which was somewhere between 2-7 days after their first date?) no. not cute. so codependent. beck was dumb af, i just couldn’t with her ex husband bs. idk the last time i thought “wow neither of these people have any business being in a relationship rn”. they both need therapy and i feel like i do too after reading almost 400 pages of this. i’m done. I’M DONE.

edit: okay actually skimmed to the end (i.e. p much just read the dialogue) so i’m gonna count it as a book read i guess. very bad.
