10/10!!

I loved this book so much! The story was really well told and the characters have so much depth! They had to deal with real issues and learn to work together and I loved it. The romance was also the best type of slow burn and I loved that it was healthy and realistic. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone!

A fun gender-swapped, non-magical retelling of Robin Hood!

I enjoyed seeing this couple grow together over time, working together to try to help the people of their kingdom.

Personally, I didn't like John's character much as the love interest but that's just my personal preference--many of my friends loved him and the romance.

It's a solid recommendation of a good Robin Hood retelling.

It is such a good retelling. It really helped me see different sides of the characters, and no matter how many times I reread the story it never gets old.

  • Clean.
  • Loveable characters.
  • "Forced" marriage.
  • Retelling.
  • Standalone.

This was my first book by Celeste Baxendell and I really enjoyed this Retelling of Robin Hood. The characters were all so well written and had layers to their personalities that made them seem real and I enjoyed seeing how the relationship between Robin and Prince John evolved as they both got to know each other as well as how they developed as individual characters as the story progressed. The epilogue at the end was also really fun and I plan to look into reading more by this author in the future.

This book is everything you could want in a twisted fairytale romance. This book has it all-- political intrigue, lovable side characters, a wickedly fantastic mcm, a fmc that actually knows what's up and is human, and enemies to lovers with real tension you could cut with a dagger. love the way the theme of courage and cowardice throughout and how it shapes the characters. Go read it.

Celeste Baxendell begins with a female Robin and then asks, "What if Prince John isn't the clearcut baddie like in the usual tale?" This is one of my favorite books from this past year!
