As long as this took me, I high key want to read the sequel now

Cute story, I enjoyed it! Took a little while to adjust to how the dialogue was written without quotations- is it a cultural difference (Swedish author)? Dual perspectives at times felt like long chapters which made it take a minute to transition back to the other story, but it didn’t interfere with the book overall (and progressively got easier as each story developed further).
Fantastical and entertaining, the adventures of Allen’s 100 year life is told as current day with his past intertwined.
This was a delightful book to read and it was easy to get a rhythm going. The dialogue writing style felt as if everything was asked in a dream state but that would be my only issue in this otherwise charming book.

This is a very odd book - it traverses modern history through the character of Allen and I feel it should be funnier. It's almost at the point where you aren't sure if its meant to be a comedy or not. Allen meets nearly everyone who is politically important from the 20th century and has so many near misses with death they are uncountable. There is a sequel but I think I won't bother. I didn't really get the point of it.

A fun little romp with some outdated and racist themes and tropes. This book wasn’t quite what I expected (didn’t realize there was so much of a Forrest Gump historical intersections theme), but I had a good time.

Overall I found the book to be humorous and absurd. I do think the length is a downfall here. It could have been shorter and accomplished the same purpose. I would say if you are looking for something in a very niche genre of absurd tales about elders, but want something shorter the An Elderly Lady duology may be more your speed.
