It was a bookclub book that I loved. Kwirky, full of interesting stories, and lots of laugh out loud moments that were just as funny when I turned back to the beginning and started again after I read the last paragraph.

Others in my bookclub had difficulty with the language in the book as it had been translated from the Swedish, but having consumed my way through the Millennium series I was happy with the cadence and hadn't actually noticed until someone mentioned it.

I loved the little snippets of world history having been moulded into narrative.

This is a light hearted fictional memoir that made me laugh out loud so many times that people asked what I was reading. I was always happy to to recommend this book. There’s comedy, romance, and a tongue in cheek look at humanity. Would read again!

This book was charming but outstayed its welcome a little bit. Part of the humour was its absurdity, but the main character having absolutely no political opinions despite all his experiences seems a bit of a cop out to be honest.

I can see some people being utterly enamoured by this, but I thought it was just okay.

This book was a little like that calculus limits problem. You keep closing the distance to the end by half, yet never seem to reach the last page... Cute, clever plot construction grows wearisome after a while, especially since there's no character development whatsoever.

Fun light read. Simplistic prose so that it's a good book to recommend to young teens as well.

A Man Called Ove meets Forrest Gump. If you liked either of those books, or movies such as Grumpy Old Men and Going Out in Style, you'll love this novel.

It's a cute idea for a story (most accurate book title ever) Allan turns 100 and decides to escape out of his window instead of going to his 100th birthday. He walks to the train station where he decides to steal a young man's suitcase, unaware the young man is part of a gang and the suitcase was full of cash. You can assume the rest pretty accurately. While this story is going on, we flash back to Allan's life and this is where it gets very Forrest Gump like.

The story is amusing/entertaining, but it wasn't as funny or captivating as I expected it to be. It was a "rental" movie at best.

I found myself bored and disinterested more than I was interested so I quit around 70% (I decided I wasn't going to be happier if I finished, and I didn't care if I didn't so... onto more books.) I found A Man Called Ove boring as well so perhaps crotchety old guys aren't a good subject matter for me.

This book just wasn't for me. To much details and the switch between different moments in time made it hard to stay focussed on the story.
