2.5 Stars

Reads quickly with some good moments but overall a predictable plot that at times just comes off as condescending.

Spoiler Of course the alien would fall in love with the family. He took over the body of one person who was a part of household where there were two intelligent, university educated, well-off (rich, really), married for love adults, and one misunderstood emo teenager. He wasn't forced to see the side of humanity that is less desirable, such as a home filled with abuse and addictions, where it is harder for people to thrive.

3.5 stars. I really liked this one, it was fun at the beginning, a little suspenseful in the middle, and I won't describe the end. An alien race discovered that an Earth professor has solved a math problem that will allow unprecedented science and technological advances. But since humans are deemed to be uncivilized and likely to hurt themselves and potentially others, this alien race needs to destroy everyone with any knowledge of the equation. So the next step, of course, is for one of the aliens to invade a human body and attempt to fit in until it can solve the problem. Two thumbs up.

I feel this book that has been written for me. It's about two of favourite things: maths and dogs

This is the second Matt Haig book I've read (first was Midnight Library), and I really enjoy his books. This book provides a good look at life with humor woven in throughout out. I would highly recommend it.

this was a delightful book that had some great insight into what it means to be human

3.5 stars. I enjoyed the first half more than the last. I felt like it became too philosophical, almost pausing the story to reflect on what it means to be human. That’s basically what the point of the book was, but to my mind it started to drag. Entertaining, with interesting characters, but this wasn’t what I was looking for, in the end.

I think I was just confused. I was not immediately hooked in so I just put it down.
