Not the biggest fan. I think I had fond memories of when I was a kid. The idea of having a "soul pet".. but rereading as an adult was a challenge to my brain. Reading from a 12yo perspective, but then also have the anti-Christian theme, that was way more obvious to me as an adult.

I first read this 5 years ago and re-reading it the second time I felt I was able to understand the story quicker and was able to make the connections between the characters. Overall really excellent fantasy storytelling like nothing I’ve ever read before.
