A fabulously intertwined story from WWII to present, alternating storylines & times. It wasn't just a mystery with a paranormal underline but also a story of war brides & their coming to the US after the war.
Not my favorite book of her, but still good. Loved learning more about the story of war brides being brought to America on the Queen Mary, but the ghost element was not my favorite.
Another wonderful read! Susan Meissner’s books are like hot tea on a cold day. Her ability to weave past and present makes her books so enjoyable.
I listened to the audiobook which was wonderfully narrated. The historical fiction portion of the book was so well done. But the present day tie-in seemed a bit of a gimmick to me and was unnecessary to the story. The ending was cheesy. Overall though, I enjoyed the book because of the well written, well researched historical story.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. The time period and story about WWII was fascinating and so intriguing!
Susan Meissner is a very talented author and tells her story so beautifully. Her writing is detailed, but not overly full of "SAT words". The writing added to the story and actually was a character to me.
This book is a HIGHLY recommend!

This book was something of a letdown. To quote Paul Hollywood (because it definitely applies to this book!), "it doesn't know what it's trying to be."
It felt very preachy in places, with mentions of god, gifts from god, etc., and that is something I simply cannot stand in a book. If it's going to preach, label it as some sort of Christian fiction, and let people decide if that's something they want to read.
Ghost stories aren't my favorite, but some authors do them really well. Susan Meissner didn't. The ghost story aspect just seemed to be something to create some conflict and help move the plot along in places. It felt lazy. Every time it seemed like that aspect of the story might be developed a little more, it was just brushed aside, and usually lead to some sort of god mention.
The only thing that came close to saving this book was the little bit of World War II history sprinkled in. It would have been so much more interesting if more of that was explored.

I love, love, LOVE Susan Meissner books! This was my 3rd book to read by her and this one didn't disappoint. I guess I didn't pay too much attention to the description of the book that I was surprised to find it had a paranormal aspect to it. That is typically not something I read about but I did find it intriguing. One of the things I enjoy so much about Meissner's books is her writing style-I find them impossible to put down! I read as soon as I get home and late into the night just so I can finish it. Now on to read more of her books!
This novel is like reading three different short stories at once, with time jumps between all three. That was difficult to navigate until their interrelationships became evident but I stuck with it because the characters were compelling.
The ending didn’t work for me because I don’t buy that the ship, Queen Mary, has a consciousness all its own that is the mysterious ghost at the heart of the story. I liked many aspects of this plot about wartime brides but it didn’t add up to much.
