I always thought that replacing cigarettes with rolled "smoking is bad" type messages was a clever idea... Now I know where I originally got it! =^_^=

This Ramona book wasn't on my Goodreads lists, but I know I read it. It was familiar and very cute.

One of my favorite parts of the road trips that my family goes on is listening to audiobooks, especially Ramona books narrated by Stockard Channing.

Involves an adult smoking (and children telling him why he needs to quit).

Not quite 5 star like some in this series, but taken as a pair with Romona and Her Mother is quintessential Beverly Cleary and just about as good as it gets.

Father smokes a lot, has lost his job and really doesn't play for today's kids. My child was like, "Why is he smoking?" "Is he drinking alcohol?" Maybe for the '70's, but wouldn't recommend it for today.

Did this with my 4 year old, really nice book. I remembered nothing about it from my childhood.

Not my favorite Ramona, but a good one, nevertheless. The younger Ramona seems to be my favorite--childish and sweet and sad over tiny things that break your heart reading about them, too. But older Ramona has her strengths as well. Yeah, she's only 7, but she's saving her dad from smoking and barely even fighting with her sister, so she's more mature and still as lovable.
