It had all the ingredients for a great story but kind of fell flat. Disappointing

This was a different take on a mafia story. I wanted to love Loren and Cats relationship and the story had great potential but there were lots of plot holes and answers that led to more questions but were never answered.
A lot was going on and the conflict that affected Cat from the past to the present was too fleeting with little emotional distress. Cat just seemed to accept everything that was happening and be so forgiving for something that had a massive impact on her life and the relationships she has with people. Her encounters with Loren were limited and more time could have been spent with them together forming some foundation of a relationship. Their relationship was 50% sexual encounters and they met less than five times.
The storyline tried to hit many different points but just got a bit confused along the way. It could have been great but missed the mark.

Tiny dancer and her mafia man
What a start! Contreras gives us a wonderful performance. Helplessly falling for the bad boy is a given. Knowing all the dance terms- not so much. Lol. I'm sure that dancwrs and non-dancers will agree Because You're Mine is well executed. The choreography of this relationship is a pas de deux worth witnessing.

I love Claire Contreras, but this wasn't my favorite book by her. It had some good moments and I liked the characters okay, but I didn't love them or the story. It felt like there was something missing, and there wasn't really anything that kept me wanting to read the story other than the desire to finish the book. I found myself putting it down and only returning to accomplish the goal of finishing. I have loved so many books by Claire, and this definitely won't be the last I read from her, but this one just wasn't all I had hoped for or that the blurb promised.
