I don't knowing was alright..I guess I am still not that into comic books. I liked the young avengers comic at the end though. I have the next one so I will probably read it. I don't know why I wish I liked comic books more...

Everything about this Hawkeye run makes me love the character when previously I didn't know much about him. I think taking his story down to a really street-level, "average everyday superhero" kind of vibe makes him more human and showcases his personality, flaws and all. AND the art is exceptionally well done. Just a really standout series and I wish that a certain comics conglomerate would appropriately compensate their artists when they use their work as the basis for TV : - )

OMG HOW DO PEOPLE NOT LIKE THIS I AM SO CONFUSED.
I mean, he rescues a DOG. He pays gobs of money to save it after a bad guy KICKS THE DOG INTO TRAFFIC, and then he kicks that guy's ass. HI, YOU HAD ME AT 'SAVE THE DOG'.
I understand about not liking the art style, but I have to admit, I was super into it. It's so different from what we normally get with comics (see also: the last chapter, which I didn't care for), and I feel like it really works for his character.
I like Hawkeye's dry style in the Avengers movies, and I feel like this is exactly who I expected him to be.
Also, Kate Bishop needs to be my BFF immediately.

Not my favourite comic I’ve ever read. I would have liked a bit more of an origin story but I am coming to read this after watching the series so can’t complain about it not fitting what I expect. Lucky was cute as always and I loved Kate’s outfits in this!

This is really a book of three parts, so it's tough to give it a unified review. The 5 Hawkeye comics were lots of fun, managed to make Hawkeye actually interesting and loveable, and did something different with their art style, which I respect. 1-3 were lighter on story and a bit repetitive but the art was really incredible. 4 and 5 had a more coherent story, but I didn't much like the ending and while the art style had a great sense of movement it had a tough job to follow the previous artist, so I think the Hawkeye comics in general started better than they finished.
I loved the character of Kate who was a standout all the way through, especially in Hawkeye 4-5 and in the Young Avengers comic. I love the Young Avengers and always enjoy their storylines and this was a fun one, but the art didn't really do it for me.
Overall I'm giving the volume a 4, just because the story, art, characterisation etc was variable. But parts of this book are definitely 5 stars! Highly recommended.

After putting it off for a long while I can confidently say Matt Fractions Hawkeye is fantastic. There is something that is instantly endearing about both Clint and Kate and their relationship. This is very close to the type of comic I dream of writing.
