This is a five-star mystery! Devoured it in a day, loved the plot of it being at a wedding. If you've read Tom Hindle's previous works, then I do think the culprit is a bit obvious. I think he has a bit of a type that he goes for as the killer based on this and The Murder Game, BUT! I loved the spotlights put onto other characters and the dialogue (internal and external) we got from multiple perspectives did have me doubting if my initial suspicion would be correct. Lots of action, a couple dead bodies and really a very good mystery!

Pretty predictable, an easy read to start off 2025.

This is classic Hindle - if you like a whodunnit this is such a classic and very easy to get into. I did know who the killer was from about chapter 3, but still really enjoyed it!

This is one of the best murder mysteries I’ve read in ages and the author managed to push all my buttons about the things I loath about the wealthy upper class and privileged!

The story is about a wedding set on a private island by the glittering waters of Lake Garda.

The wealthy and influential family, the Heywood’s, gather begrudgingly for their son’s wedding to an Italian influencer. But as the ceremony begins, a blood-curdling scream brings the proceedings to a devastating halt.

With the wedding guests trapped on the island as they await the police, many old secrets come to light and family rivalries threaten to bubble over.

Pacey, gripping and with plenty of twists and turns, a brilliant read. I couldn’t put it down.

Ps Why do the privileged elite think they can get away with anything and frown on us working class mortals?
