Okay, okay… okay! Let me get this out first: this book is actually good! BUT! It's so hella twisted. I kinda can't.

The author wasn't lying in her trigger warning speech at the beginning. What in the ever living shit!? And the ending!? WHAT!? Going to dive straight into book #2

some of the quotes are too good. my brain would go “but he’s a stalker and kills people” and then he would say something and i didn’t care anymore.

(This book was read and reviewed by my friend, Bailey. I had no part in this.)

THERE WILL BE SPOILERS!!!!
In the beginning the writing was kind of good, but then it just got repetitive. Half of it is the same sentence over and over again, "He's outside of my house. We shared a glance. My cinnamon brown hair..." WE GET IT!!! He's stalking you and your hair is brown, what's new?
When I bought this book, I thought that the ~spicy scenes~ were consensual, unfortunately I was wrong. If I hear Adeline say one more thing about how she likes it and hates being stalked at the same time I'm going to scream.
Also, let's talk about Zade. How are you going to dedicate your entire life to end human trafficking, sacrifice, stalking, domestic violence, etc. and then do the equivalent. "I know it's wrong, but I don't care." EXCUSE ME??? He's literally insane. And to think that there's people saying, "Omg I need a Zade Meadows in my life." Girl what? What you need is this thing called a therapist. The fact that there's also people recommending this to teenagers, none of that was normal. Also, what kind of nickname is "mouse"? EW! It baffles me that there's people who genuinely want to live this, I would rather dry shave with a dull rusty razor and then swim in rubbing alcohol. I'm not even joking either. Also, why does he crack his neck and talk about how stiff his shoulders are EVERY SINGLE CHAPTER?? GO TO A CHIROPRACTOR!! And there is no way that you were basically unfazed when concrete and rubble flew into your eyes. At least try to be realistic.
"But he listens to her, she told him to stop littering and he did." Okay, where was that energy when she was literally begging him to stop and to leave her alone? Why couldn't he listen to her then? Absolutely astonishing, and not in the good way.
I am NEVER going to get my $16 back or the time that I spent reading this book. This isn't "dark romance", it's just abuse. If it was actually consensual that yeah, sure it's dark romance, but basically none of it way consensual.
"It's just fiction!" What you read and support in fiction and fictional characters REFLECTS YOU AND YOUR MORALS AND IDEATIONS!!! Literally insane. If you want to support that and that kind of writing you, do you, I guess, but then what if it actually happens to you or someone you love? Are you going to romanticize it then? Are you going to tell the person you love that they should be happy it's happening to them and that it's "hot"?
Essentially, I would've LOVED to rate this book a -5 out of 5, but that's not possible so I gave it a 1.
And to those of you who told me that this book was good and swore up and down that I would love it (you know who you are) how dare you. Absolutely unforgiveable, I will never, NEVER, take another one of your book recommendations seriously. I cannot believe the absolute unwavering audacity that you had to confidently tell me with your whole chest that this book was good. I would say that it belongs in the garbage can with Oscar the Grouch, but Oscar doesn't deserve that.
