reading this is so hard i dont care about rich people

I am convinced that this book portrays the great grandparents of most of the people my St a Lawrence friends and I went to school with.

One of his best, I laughed out loud. I love his criticism of wealth and shallowness. Sometimes his writing makes me laugh but when I look back on what it all really meant I'm always sad. Fitzgerald is one of the greats.

Fitzgerald has seemingly never encountered a word he didn’t like. His favorite being poignancy

At first I loved this book and then I was disgustingly bored through the middle. It got interesting again but at the death of any love I had for the characters. They are all insufferable people.

Happy he got his money but like wtf.

I like that he made fun of his own previous book in the story but still bad.

Enjoyable. More subtle indictment of the leisure class than Gatsby but in the end not as satisfying or tragic. Editor drew many parallels between main character and Fitzgerald's lives. Good characterization but lackluster plot.

gorgeous writing and some provoking passages. but ultimately a slog. maybe i need to reread it?
