Multiple times I got choked up and started crying while reading this. Nevertheless, I couldn't stop reading.

The one thing I would have wanted to see more of that would have satisfied my curiosity surrounding these characters lives would be more of Sophie's backstory. We only get tiny glimpses of her throughout and the way she reacts to things told, but following her confession to Julien regarding her real identity and intentions, I would have liked to understand more about how she grew up; did she have a nice childhood, did her mother not talking to Sophie about her father cause any kind of distance between them, did Sophie's mother live happily after leaving everything behind? I feel that even if only a page or two had been devoted to illustrations of Sophie growing up beside her mother doing various things, my curiosity would be satiated.

Either way, the story made me feel as if I'd lived through everything told, and it's a story I'm not likely to forget any time soon. Beautiful but bittersweet.
