Great characters and story but also very problematic when reading with 2025 clarity.

Pretty good. Very easy to read...

I found it a bit "oprah-bookclub" possibly - lots of gossip, lots of characters getting into scrapes and goodies and baddies, lots of fairly predictable plot twists that some might actually find comforting... and kind of a weird cheeriness that I find it hard to relate to.

Possibly this says more about my personal taste than it does about the book. It's been a while since I've derived the sort of satisfaction from novels that I get from non-fiction, particularly memoirs. It could be just a phase of life I'm in. I'd recommend this book though, because it's a nice easy read. Good for a beach holiday, maybe, or something like that.

Probably the best book I’ve read this year. I loved it.

Приятная, жизнеутверждающая книга, наполненная позитивом и добротой. Лучший выбор для армии

i love fannie flagg! all the characters have such rich story lines and fulfilling roles throughout the book. i love her writing style as it continues to suck me into the plot and i felt as if i was in whistle stop. each character is seen throughout the whole chapter and we follow them all the way to the end which i loved. these books are never predictable and always give me a “feel good” vibe by the end!!! highly recommend.

This has the impression of a feel-good read but underneath there is a surprising amount of darkness. Through conversations with her new friend Evelyn Couch is introduced to the inhabitants of Whistle Stop, Alabama and so are we.  Flagg keeps you wanting to know more and you just can't help loving the cheeky Idgie Threadgood, owner of the Cafe who seems to keep the community together.
