mysterious
I love this cozy mystery series about a murder solving librarian and her true crime book club.
This one was a little iffy for me. I love Roe obviously because I keep reading the series but this one almost didn't really seem to fit in. Roe finally gets married and finds out her new husband has secrets and also he's bought her the house of the family that disappeared. However, Roe's curiousity gets the best of her and she starts wanting to know what's happened to the family and what Martin is really up to. Then it all goes to hell when she gets attacked by an ax-wielding mad man and Martin thinks it has to do with his secret life. The ending was surprising but I don't know this one was just weird. Also, I miss Robin!
While the mystery was different, and I really wanted to know the ending...man, the main character is soooooooo Jessica Fletcher-y - soooo meddlesome and annoying.
Plus, girl! If your fiance gives you the creeps and you don't trust him, DON'T MARRY HIM! You're dumb! Ugh!
But I was satisfied with the twisty end. Unexpected in a good way.

Ugh, so It's very rare that I like a movie or in my case a hallmark series better than the book,
this was the first book that I didn't love, in the movie series, she isn't married to Martin, which is good thing, I find Martin to be really irritating.
"The Julius House" was a slow burn, to say the least. It took Charlaine Harris until page 106 to remember that she was supposed to be writing a mystery series. Up until then, the story simply revolved around Aurora adjusting to her married life.

Enjoyed the mystery but all the relationship crap should have been slimmed down. It’s just not integral to the plot and didn’t feel it made any difference to her characterization
• My Random Rapid Fire Review•
I dislike this book so much that I truly can’t be bothered to organize this into anything other than the stream of consciousness it landed into. enjoy haha
Hot and cold
Shotgun makes zero sense
Overly dramatic
Wildly immature
Character make weird decisions that seem to be written just to move the story along
Aubrey being the one to officiate, give premarital counseling, stroking her hair, vibes of longing for Roe…their whole relationship/ friendship or whatever is just super sus
Weird that everyone hates or loves Martin, they have horrible feelings about him yet support her because she loves him
Ridiculous that Martin makes all these unerlatal decisions and just expect roe to go along with it, he gets angry for seemingly no reason- again it seems to be added in just for added tension even though it wasn’t necessary. It is understandable how Roe feels about Martin’s “side business”, however her expecting him to just be able to immediately quit was just beyond selfish and short sighted.
Sally’s attitude is just insane. She is bristly and defensive for seemingly no reason. In addition to that I felt it was odd that after the bodies on the roof were discovered that she called as a reporter and not a friend. That seems like a really terrible friend imo
The comments about women are just ridiculous, overly critical and unnecessary. The fact that a woman wrote something that contributes to pulling women down is just disappointing.
Also wtf is it with Jack Burns hating roe? For what? I still don’t understand it.

The series is starting to go downhill a bit here, but still not a bad one. Mostly wedding plans and getting the house ready, with an old mystery thrown in.
A good installment in this series.
