The title does not do just to this emotive, poetic, historical book that I just read. I fell in love with Poppy, Emilia, and Lucy as they were on their journeys to be their own colorful oil paintings.

DNF 36%…I didn’t like one single character in this story. Either they were awful human beings, or insipid doormats, making this no fun to read. Moving on.

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

A sweet, whimsical, feel good story about a family cursed that the second born daughters will never find love. The story spans generations, tells love stories that almost happened but didn’t or couldn’t, over & over. There is a trip to Europe, long lost family reunited, a lifelong love story & the deep connection between sisters & the women in the family.

I enjoyed this one but there was not enough “oomph” to make it feel profound or deeply interesting. It also felt long - too long. The story was good, certainly worthwhile, but overall it came to feel like a bit of a two dimensional slog to push to finish it. I can see why others loved it but it just isn’t my preferred genre.
