More than half of this book was Aspen living in denial and playing with my baby Keene's feelings. I wanted to smack him so bad. His overthinking also got real repetitive at a point (saying this as a grade 5 overthinker is ironic Imao), and the third act breakup was so unnecessary and irritating. I was so angry with Aspen and the choices he made after the incident. But I'm just happy the author made him go through the same emotions he made Kee go through before they got back together.
And Keene... ugh, my sweet baby. He was so cute and lovable. I'm so happy he got his peace and happiness at the end❤️

What a fun and sweet book!
Initially I wasn’t too sure, it is a new adult book set in university and those don’t totally hit for me - that’s my fault for not realising it when I picked it up! It also starts off revolving a bit more around the sexual aspect and exploring this through dares which was fun and hot but I was worried there may not be much depth. I would be wrong, though!!
Not too long in they do get to some really tender and sweet moments that absolutely melted me. I love the best friends aspect and how much they care for each other and start to grow in their softer physical affection and how that joins up into their friendship and love.
The hot parts, including some of the earlier dares, were sooo hot - whew 🥵 gotta love some good ol sexting 🤭
I loved seeing their individual journeys and points of view as they go through their discovery and how different it is for each of them. They have to grapple with those differences like they never have before in their friendship, which was interesting to read.
Then... they made me ache, I actually shed a few tears. They break your heart a little before putting it back together. Not in a catastrophic, emotional damage level of way but still hurts you a bit!
Overall, new adult is maybe still not maybe my fave but I really ended up enjoying this read. I smiled so much and felt a bit giddy at points for them! It was a good combo of hot and playful but also made me all mushy and emotional. The last 10-15% of the book just melted me with all the warm fuzzies.
This was my first read by this author. I will probably not be running to read more but they will definitely go in my rotation to pick up every now and then between other books, as I am curious to read more!
Definitely can recommend, especially if you like new adult and bi/MM romances.

this was really really good. like its really not unique at all if you ever just think of a best friends turned lovers romance but theres sex in the middle of all of it then you get Dont You Dare. but i think its the way they interact with each other and how words describe them it always feels like the 2 decades of history they have as best friends is always there. and also romance novels now tend to avoid big emotional scenes and angst but like the communication ever being so present in their relationship, as best friends, as sexual partners, and all that they had such an explosive argument about what this relationship means to both of them and it was so damn good . i love it

I really enjoyed this, kept wanting to pick it up when I wasn't listening. though there were some very strange physiological things happening to balls at the beginning of the book. like, every time these guys felt something, they felt it in their balls, which were throbbing and pulsing. it got to the point that every time balls were mentioned I was facepalming. but that stopped halfway through the book so I wonder if this was an editing issue.
either way, the actual story was really good, and surprisingly emotional in the second half of the book. I cried a couple tears when things went sideways. and I'm satisfied with the groveling.
