i loved loved loved this book and kee and pen's love story!! reading them go from the bestest of friends to falling in love was so beautiful, even if i did spend most of pen's chapters screaming at him because he was oblivious to the fact he was falling in love with kee!! half a star lost because, whilst i understand why it was done for the plot, i didn't *love* the third act breakup :((

Don’t You Dare by C.E. Ricci is the kind of friends to lovers, bi awakening romance that grabs you from page one and refuses to let go. One party game. One dare. One kiss… and suddenly, nothing is the same for Aspen and his very straight (or so he thinks) best friend.
Between the sports setting, the endless tension, and the downright scorching dirty talk, this book delivers everything. It’s messy, it’s angsty, it’s hot as hell—and you will be obsessed with the way these two navigate their feelings through a string of increasingly risky dares.
If you love:
✔ Best friends realizing they want MORE
✔ Bi curious exploration that is HOT HOT HOT
✔ Sports bros with undeniable chemistry
✔ Flirty dares that spiral into full blown obsession
✔ Baseball puns & dirty talk that will make you blush
Then run, don’t walk, to grab this book. C.E. Ricci absolutely nails the tension, the yearning, and the deliciously slow burn descent into chaos.

felt like the characters lacked a bit of depth. aspen having trust issues is made a character corner stone but never given the reasoning behind it. the third act break up felt unnecessary and didn't fit with the story. it would have been far more compelling to for them to own up their feels in the moment and grow together, but instead it fell into the worst trope. this had a lot of internal dialogue and worrying for very little development. at 400 pages I felt like this should have been a novella. I enjoyed the build up to the relationship it was cute but sputtered out. maybe i'm just not a fan of the authors work. this is just my opinion and I only speak for myself

I don’t remember when I first read this book, but this was maybe my 5th reread as I’m waiting for the next book to come out!
I love Keene and Aspen so much. From the first moments you can see the feel strongly about each other and best friends to lovers is always a delight. I thought their relationship developed well throughout the book and the fact the aspen just acceptance of being queer was nice. I loved the beach cottage scene. Their third act break up was finnne. I don’t love it but also it made sense. I love this book though these are two of my fav characters.
